I really hate that Sailor Moon meme saying, “I had a talking cat before Sabrina.” No, no you didn’t. Sailor Moon debuted in 1992 (if you want to count Sailor V in here, 1991) and Sabrina came out in the 1960s. Why does no one ever seem to dispute this fact when it gets posted?!

I’d reblog the meme itself, but I couldn’t find it. I saw someone with it as their profile picture on Facebook and it just resparked my annoyance at this meme.

They’re all torrents, so hopefully you’re cool with that. The quality is good, ripped from the DiC DVDs or the R2 DVDs with fan subs. I’ve checked them out at random on my computer to make sure they work. There’s just some setting or something I need to do to get the subtitled ones to work on my PS3 media server. Oh well. But the movies are all letter box! Yay!

I always had it in my mind that until Crystal Tokyo was introduced, the DiC dub never made mention of Tokyo. But early on in “Kitty Chaos,” Serena actually says in the “Today on Sailor Moon,” “all the ally cats of Tokyo….” I dont know why I never caught that before.

And now back to watching “Kitty Chaos!” lol! I downloaded good quality episodes of the Japanese version, but they won’t play over my ps3 media server, so until I feel like dealing with that, I’m just watching the dub again as I downloaded those too. I guess its the subtitles that’s making the Japanese version not work cause they’re all the same file type from the same source. Still easier than swapping DVDs every 4 episodes though. :)

You know, if by some chance a Sailor Moon redub ever happened, my dream would be for Terri Hawkes to return to VO work and do Usagi again (I believe she stopped. But maybe my info is outdated?), and keep Susan Roman for Makoto. The rest of the cast would definitely be replaceable for me (especially Luna. Oh god!), but I really loved those women’s portrayal of the characters. Maybe bring back Artemis’ actor. He was pretty great too. I think they could pull off an actual dub of the characters instead of an adaptation.

Get rid of the awful Americanized slang that Serena always used, and she’d be a great Usagi. Terri Hawkes does the same great changing of emotions that Kotono Mitsuishi managed to do: ditzy, warrior, princess, etc. As for Susan Roman, well, shes the only voice that never changed (and Luna. But again, Luna=ick!). And I just always loved that voice for the character.

I know I’m not the only one out there who does enjoy the dic dub as much as the original (dont care for the cloverway one myself. Mostly because I couldn’t stand Linda Ballentyne). Even those who don’t like it do like some of the actors. What are some other voice actors that the world of tumblr liked and wouldn’t mind seeing returned a dub happened?
